COLUMBIA – Florence E. (Alley) Worcester, 97, went to be with the Lord Feb. 28, 2006. She was born June 1, 1908, on Head Harbor Island, the daughter of the late Josiah and Mary Alley. Florence grew up in Jonesport and graduated from Jonesport High School in 1927. In 1930, she married Wilbur M. Worcester and together they moved to Columbia. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who took great pride in her family. Florence was a member of the Community of Christ (formerly RLDS) in Jonesport. On her 90th birthday, she received the Boston Post Cane from the town of Columbia Falls. She is survived by her children, Marilyn Hartford, Winifred Nelson and Thomas F. Worcester and wife, Lois, all of Columbia Falls, Carol Dorr and husband, Roger, of Cherryfield, Morrill Worcester and wife, Karen, of Columbia Falls, and Betty Mathews and husband, Bill, of Cherryfield; 27 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren; and beloved dog, Bootie. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Wilbur M. Worcester, in 1992; a grandson, Charles E. Parker Jr.; a granddaughter, Stephanie Hartford; son-in-law, Norman “Pud” Hartford; and several brothers and sisters. Visiting hours will take place 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 6 Cooper St., Machias. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at the Community of Christ Church in Jonesport officiated by Pastor George Woodward.
