SOMERSWORTH, N.H. – Frances A. Atwood, 83, formerly of Charpentier Apartments, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at the Rochester Manor, following a long period of failing health. Born Feb. 24, 1921, in Perry, she was the daughter of Harry and Addie (Dudley) Amero. Mrs. Atwood worked for many years in Dover, N.H., mainly at Sweetlands, which later became The Spartan. She later worked as an operator and then as a repair clerk with New England Telephone in Dover, N.H., retiring in 1986. Following retirement, Frances was employed at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in the cafeteria. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, devoting much time and energy prior to ill health, to Church activities. She is survived by her three sons, Bernie Metcalf and his wife, Sue, of Rochester, N.H., Bert Metcalf and his wife, Gail, of New Durham, N.H., and Reggie Metcalf and his wife, Gloria, of Machias; five grandchildren, Susan Redden of Dover, N.H., Deborah Metcalf of Gonic, N.H., Michelle Goodwin of Rochester, N.H., Michael Metcalf of Ellsworth, and Bernard Metcalf of Machias; five great-grandchildren, Patrick and Allyson Redden of Dover, N.H., Logan Goodwin of Rochester, N.H., Arielle Metcalf of Machias, and Jasmine Metcalf of Milbridge. Many nieces and nephews also survive her, along with many dear friends. Her mother, Addie Estabrook; her brother, Reginald Seeley; and a grandson, Reggie Metcalf, predeceased her. There will be no calling hours. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wed-nesday, Aug. 11, in Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover, N.H., with the Rev. Brian Sollenberger, Pastor, Garrison Baptist Church, Dover, N.H., officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Barrington, N.H.
