MILLINOCKET – Frances M. Cummings, 99, wife of the late Harry Cummings went home to be with the Lord Aug. 4, 2005, at the Katahdin Nursing Home. She died peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Frances was born Sept. 7, 1905, in Benedicta, the daughter of John and Teresa (Rush) McAvoy. She graduated from St. Benedict’s High School. Frances was married to Harry Cummings Oct. 24, 1928, and was his devoted wife until his death April 27, 1983. She was a former member of St. Benedict’s parish and the Ladies Sodality. For the past 45 years she has been a communicant at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Frances was a loving wife and mother whose life revolved around her family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Everett McAvoy; a sister, Dorothy Pooler; and a beloved only son, Joseph Cummings. She is survived by three of her beloved children and their spouses, Therese and Harold McLaughlin, Jeanne and Arthur Dentremont, all of Millinocket, Christine and Wendall McNally of Brewer; and a dear daughter-in-law, Christine Cummings of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; 19 special grandchildren; 36 wonderful great grandchildren; and four precious great great-grandchildren. Frances is also survived by her dear sister, Madolyn Enright of East Millinocket; her sisters-in-law, Mary Thomas, Dorothy Carollo, and Helena Glennon; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Frances’ family wishes to express special thanks to the entire staff of the Katahdin Nursing Home for the loving care and special consideration shown to her during her 11 years of residency there. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005, at R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Millinocket Cemetery.
