BREWER – Frances Winchester, 85, died Feb. 27, 2005, at her home. She was born Dec. 4, 1919, in Bangor, the daughter of James Griffin and Anne (Reardon) Griffin. She was a graduate of John Bapst High School. Frances was an avid and enthusiastic bowler competing in state tournaments. Surviving are her loving husband of 63 years, Eugene P. Winchester of Brewer; five children, Jeanine A. York of Brewer, Larry L. Winchester of Orrington, Eleanor M. Goodine and her husband, Doug, of Brewer, Sidney F. Winchester and friend, Joyce Tardiff, of Brewer, Robin L. Reed and her husband, Rick, of Orrington; 12 grandchildren, Dawn Lamb, Stephen York, Scott York, Cammy Hills, Derek Goodine, Jason Goodine, Nick Winchester, Amy Winchester, Phil Winchester, Michelle Winchester, Katie Reed and Nolan Reed; 14 great-grandchildren, including Amy’s new baby, Vera Frances Winchester-Dodman; one niece, Eleanor Heinz and her husband, Dieter, of Florida; brothers-in-law, Sidney W. Winchester and his wife, Lillian, of Brewer, Merton Clough of Westbrook; and sister-in-law, Virginia Winchester of Bangor. She was predeceased by a sister, Ann; and two brothers, James and Gregory. The Winchester family wishes to express their appreciation to Connie Tillie, LeAnn, Mo, Sheryl and the rest of the Hospice staff of Bangor Area Visiting Nurses and the personnel of the Maine Veterans Home.
