GLENBURN – Francis H. Ardine, 72, died Sept. 8, 2006, at a Bangor nursing home. He was born Oct. 17, 1933, in West Enfield, the son of Victor Sr. and Kathryn (Bishop) Ardine. Francis was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in Korea and Vietnam and received three Purple Hearts. He also received the Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation with Palm and Gold Frame, Vietnam Service Medal, Rifle Sharp Shooter Badge and the Pistol Marksman Badge. Francis was an avid fisherman and loved to fish in the Passadumkeag River. He is survived by five brothers, Victor Ardine Jr. of Winn, Albert Ardine and his wife, Helen, of Massachusetts, Reginald Currie of Enfield, Gerald Ardine and his wife, Judith, of Michigan and Donald Ardine and his wife, Alice, of Glenburn; one sister, Mary Lou LaPointe and her husband, Adrian, of Saco; several nieces, nephews; and by his best friends, Roger Burke and Jenny. He was predeceased by siblings, Pauline Carr and her husband, Clarence, Clifford Ardine and his wife, Ruth and Barbara LaPointe and her husband, Roger; three nephews, Jimmy, Gary and Tommy LaPointe; sisters-in-law, Gloria (Veino) Ardine and Nancy (Engstrom) Currie. The staff at the Bangor VA Clinic will sadly miss Francis. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. An American Legion service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at the West Enfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Howland American Legion.
