NEWPORT – Francis H. Ouellette, 94, peacefully went to the Lord, Feb. 18, 2008, at Sebasticook Valley Health Care Facility, Pittsfield. He was born May 18, 1913, in Old Town, the son of Emile and Rose (Duplissis) Ouellette. As a young man, he worked as a pastry chef at the Bangor House, proudly served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Maine and New Hampshire, and was also employed to help build Liberty Ships in Portland during World War II. Having retired after 21 years at Eastland Woolen Mill, Corinna, he then enjoyed gardening, sightseeing, visiting with his sons in Colorado, and enjoyed several years in Vermont before returning to Maine. His greatest passion was being surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his first wife, Carmen; his second wife, Gladys; granddaughter, Riley; five brothers, Clement, Albert, Donald, Robert, and Evan; three sisters, Lillian Doucette, Thelma Christakos, and Marie St. Germain; and special girl, Carole. He is survived by four daughters and their husbands, Laurette “Sue” and Gregory Maher of Dixmont, Lorraine “Lori” and James Maher of Newport, Cecile and Victor Buckland of Newport, Jacqueline and Bernard Keene of Hampden; two sons, Robert and Edward Ouellette, both of Colorado; two grandchildren, Michael Buckland and fianc?e, Cory Schuman of Massachusetts, Bridgit Cayer and husband, Brian, of Stetson; two sisters, Bernice Anunzzi of Connecticut, Dorothy Marchant and her husband, Frederick, of Camden and Florida; several generations of nieces and nephews. At his request there will be no public funeral services. A private graveside service will be held in the spring. Friends who wish may make memorial donations in his name to a charity of their choice.
