WATERVILLE – Francis J. Babine, 92, died Nov. 7, 2005, at Maine General Medical Center, Waterville. Born June 10, 1913, in Corberrie, N.S., Canada, a son of Alpha and Theresa (Melanson) Babine. Francis was educated at John Bapst High School in 1932, and attended Beal College. He was a World War II veteran in the European area at the Battle of Bulge. He was the manager of Montgomery Ward in the Sporting Goods and Automotive Departments. Francis was also employed with the ACE Tire Company in Waterville from which he retired. Francis is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Helen (Putnam) B. Babine who he married Nov. 11, 1939, at St. Mary’s Church in Bangor. He is also survived by a daughter, Carol Picchiotti and her husband, John, of Fairfield; a son, Richard of Orrington; five grandchildren, Jon, Todd and Kirk Picchiotti and Marc and Erin Babine, three great-grandchildren, Emily, Jerimiah and Wayland; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 12, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville, where funeral services will be held noon. Burial will be in Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta at a later Date.
