FRANCIS L. KAUFMAN DEXTER – Francis L. Kaufman, 89, died May 5, 2004, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. He was born March 11, 1915, in Andover, N.J., son of Gustave and Emily (Waer) Kaufmann. He owned and operated a Ford dealership in Dexter for more than 40 years. He loved flying and had several small planes. He also loved to go fly-fishing and was a long time member of the Dexter Club. In later years he enjoyed buying and selling antiques. He was predeceased in 1996 by his wife of 60 years, Bertha E. (Clark) Kaufman; and a brother, Howard. He is survived by two sons and their wives, Roger and Beverly Kaufman of Dover-Foxcroft and Lee and Peggy Kaufman of Dexter; a brother and his wife, Emil and Norma Kaufmann of Albion; a sister, Ruth Jones of Florida; brothers-in-law and their wives, Frank and Charlene Clark, Gordon and Marilyn Clark and Dennis Clark; five grandchildren, Jeffrey, Douglas and Ute Kaufman, Kelly and Anthony Phillips, LeAnn and Raymond Miller, and Christine Moulton; six great-grandchildren, Megan and Chad Phillips, Ethan and Emmalee Moulton, Jared and Gretchen Miller; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2004, at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery in Dexter. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to the charity of your choice.
