CARIBOU – Francis M. “Jiggs” LeVasseur, 81, died April 6, 2007, at his residence. He was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Caribou, the son of N. Paul and Rose (Levesque) LeVasseur. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Jiggs was employed as a postal carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Caribou for 30 years. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Justine (Thibodeau) LeVasseur of Caribou; two sons, Mark F. LeVasseur and his wife, Eileen, of Dover-Foxcroft, and Matthew P. LeVasseur of Camden; two daughters, Christine M. LeVasseur of Portland, Ore., and Amy Raymond and her husband, Neil, of East Waterboro; one brother, Phil LeVasseur of Caribou; four sisters, Theresa Madigan and Louise LeVasseur, both of Caribou, Marie Shuff of Hagarstown, Md., and Priscilla Williamson of Woodstock, Va.; one grandson, Ben J. LeVasseur of Dover-Foxcroft; and two granddaughters, Alia N. LeVasseur of Dover-Foxcroft and Celia Stern Raymond of East Waterboro. Private family services will be held at a later date at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Jiggs may do so through Caribou Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Service. Funeral arrangements are by Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou.
