TREMONT – Frank “Dinky” Leeman Hodgdon Jr., 54, died unexpectedly, early in the morning Oct. 2, 2007, in Bar Harbor. He was born June 19, 1953, in Bar Harbor, the son of Frank L. and Lillian M. (Rich) Hodgdon Sr. More widely known as “Dinky,” Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as Yankee fan. He was a staple around town and took a huge amount of pride in being from the backside. Many people knew Dinky and no one had ever spoken an ill word of him. He was a prankster and jokester, and brought a smile to everyone’s life he touched, even for the briefest instance. He was employed by Hinckley Yachts for 22 years and truly enjoyed the company of the men he worked with. He also greatly enjoyed hunting on Bartlett’s Island and the companionship of the few lucky enough to accompany him. His closest friends, as well as his sons’ and daughters’ friends, who’s company he also greatly enjoyed, will also remember him for his horseshoe tournaments and cookouts. Dinky is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Judy (Colbeth) Hodgdon; daughter, Katie and son, Leeman; his mother, Lillian; and brothers, Doug and longtime companion, Renee McKenna, and Gary; and also by his riding companion, Marty. He was predeceased by his father, Frank Hodgdon Sr. A memorial service and cookout will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at Cape Road, Town Landing/Picnic area. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dinky’s memory may be made to Leeman and Katie’s college fund, care of Bar Harbor Bank and Trust Co., P.O. Box 698, Southwest Harbor, ME 04679.
