ORLAND – Frank H. Pickering, 75, died Feb. 2, 2007. He was born Jan. 7, 1932, in Penobscot, son of Thomas and Hittie (Harrington) Pickering. Frank graduated from Bucksport High School and retired from Champion International Paper Co., after more than 30 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting wood, carpentry, gardening and in particular, loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Inez (Bowden) Pickering; three children, Sherman Pickering and his wife, Sue, of Orrington, Sandra Veilleux and her husband, Charles, of Bucksport and Karen Simmons and her husband, Jeff, of Holden; eight grandchildren, Corey Veilleux and his wife, Kelli, Matt Veilleux and his wife, Helen, Christy Allison and her husband, Steven, Inez, Adam, Lucas, Lainie and Michael; three great-grandchildren, Emma, Gina and Landon; three sisters, Ginny Gross of Bucksport, Mary Ginn of Orland and Martha Gracie of Penobscot; many nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by many friends, including his fishing buddies, Waldo, Randy and Whitey; and his two dogs, Pete and Teddy. Frank was predeceased by a sister, Dora Lord; and a brother, Herbert Pickering. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Interment will be at Back Ridge Cemetery, Orland.
