TRENTON and BANGOR – Frankie (Corliss) Martin, 90, wife of Dr. G. Uriel Martin of Oak Point Road, Trenton, died April 4, 2005, at a Bar Harbor hospital following a period of failing health. Born Dec. 7, 1914, in Oakfield, she was the fourth child of Henry F. and Justine L. Corliss. Frankie and her first husband, William R. Brown, who predeceased her, made their home in Bangor for many years. She was a longtime employee of the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad, retiring at age 65. An avid bowler, Frankie loved traveling with her companions to bowling tournaments in several other cities. In later years, the many motor home trips shared with “Doc” were joyous, memorable events for her. She is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. G. Uriel Martin; four nieces, Ruth Splan of Zephyrhills, Fla., Priscilla Williams of Sherman, Eula Roberts of Augusta, Jeanice Levesque of Milbridge; and one nephew, Ray Corliss of Albuquerque, N.M. Also surviving are stepdaughters, Suzanne Bowman of Sunrise, Fla. and Ann Fultz of Front Royal, Va.; and a sister-in-law, Anna May Brangwynne of Dorchester, Mass. In addition to her parents and first husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Annie Bryant; and brothers, Fred Corliss and Wendell Corliss. Frankie will long be remembered by friends and relatives as a most thoughtful, caring person who was happiest when pleasing others. In keeping with her request, there will be no funeral service. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Private interment will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
