LUBEC – Franklin E. Brown Sr., 75, passed away peacefully in his sleep June 24, 2004, at his residence in Lubec. He was born March 25, 1929, in Hartford, Conn., the son of Charles and Vera (Case) Brown. He was a graduate of Hartford High School, Class of 1948. In 1952, he moved to southern Maine, then moved to Lubec in 1976, where he worked for Guilford Industries until his retirement. He also was a lobster fisherman for many years, and he greatly enjoyed taking care of his beautiful garden and orchard. He was a member of Washington Masonic Lodge No. 37 AF & AM of Lubec. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Ruth; one son, Franklin E. Brown and wife, Judith, of Charleston; two daughters, Jo-Ann Brown Stein and husband, Mark, of Columbus, N.J., and Sue-Ann Brown of Ormond by the Sea, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one niece, Joyce Mattison of Largo, Fla. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Milton L. Brown, who died in World War II. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2004, at the Christian Temple Church in Lubec, with Pastor Gary Look officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow at the Lamson Cemetery, Lubec. Those wishing to make donations in his memory may do so to the Lubec Christian Temple Church, 43 Main St., Lubec, ME 04652.
