ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Fred “Bud” Bowden, 75, of Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004. He was born Aug. 4, 1928, in Orrington, to Fred Joseph and Joyce Winona (Grindle) Bowden. He was a member of East Orrington Congregational Church and for more than 45 years he was the owner and operator of Bowden Sales and Service in Orrington. Other memberships included the Masonic Lodge in Orrington as a 33rd Degree Scottish Rites Mason, and member and past president of Orrington Trailriders Snowmobile Club. He moved to Florida in 1992, and remained a longtime summer resident at his cottage on Half Moon Pond in Searsport. He was predeceased by a brother, James Bowden; and a sister, Tina Ames. His loving family includes his wife of 54 years, Norma; two daughters, Susan Joyce of Orrington, and Jean and husband, Doug Smith, of Lexington, Ky.; brother, Carrol and wife, Norma Bowden, of Bucksport; two sisters, Marilyn N. Blood of Orland, and Clara Rolerson of Morrill; two grandsons, David Farren and Kirkland Bowden Smith; great-grandson, Brandon Farren; and many beloved nieces, nephews and special friends. Memorial and interment services will be held in Maine in the spring.
