OTTER CREEK – Fred E. Rumill Sr., 63, died June 26, 2004, in Otter Creek. He was born May 22, 1941, in West Tremont, the son of George Calvin and Euphemia (Dawes) Rumill Sr. Fred worked at Testa’s Restaurant for 20 years and for the Jackson Laboratory for 12 years. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and Korean and Germany Wars, in Company A 91st Engineer BTLN and Company B 65th Engineer BTLN 25th Infantry Divison, where he received many medals, the Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter, Good Conduct Medal, two overseas bars, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation with Oak Leaf Cluster and Republic of Vietnam Service. Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Sharon Lee (Griffin) Rumill; three sons, Fred E. Rumill Jr. and wife, April, of Gouldsboro, Ray W. Rumill and George C. Rumill, both of Otter Creek; one daughter, Karen L. Rumill and companion, Bradley Walls, of Mount Desert; one brother, Frank W. Rumill of West Tremont; one sister, Kassie Lunt of Bass Harbor; and seven grandchildren, Brittany, Fred III, Autumn, Andrew, Karl, Austin and Alex. He was predeceased by two sisters, Rose Edna and Rachel; and one brother, George Jr. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2004, at Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert with the Rev. Mary-Carol Griffin officiating. Interment will be at Head of Harbor Cemetery, Bass Harbor.
