HOULTON – Frederick G. Spellman, 70, died Aug. 2, 2006, in Houlton, with his family at his side. He was born March 31, 1936, in Houlton, the son of Clarence and Annie (Green) Spellman. Fred was a self-employed entrepreneur, having owned Fred’s Texaco, Spellman’s Light Trucking, Stop-n-Go, Redemption Center and Limos. He enjoyed playing music, most recently at Crestview Manor. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Phyllis (McAfee) Spellman; two children, Linda and her husband, Rodney Polchies, and Rick and his wife, Bernadette Spellman, all of Houlton; two grandchildren, Jessica Milton and her husband, Travis, and Dylan Polchies; four sisters, Phyllis and her husband, Roger Oliver, Priscilla and her husband, Edwin Clark, Patricia Spellman, all of Houlton and Dorothy Farrar of Veazie; one brother, Eugene and his wife, Ruth Spellman, of Houlton; sister-in-law, Shirley Spellman of North Carolina; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Philip and Clayton. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton, with the Rev. Dr. Arthur Myers officiating. A time of fellowship will be held immediately after services at the First Baptist Church, Court Street.
