FORT FAIRFIELD – Frederick H. Dubay, 74, husband of the late Catherine “Kate” Dubay, died Friday, July 2, 2004, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following an extended illness. He was born Feb. 24, 1930, at Tilley, New Brunswick, the son of Leslie H. and Vesta E. (McAllister) Dubay. He was educated in the Fort Fairfield School system and was married to Catherine “Kate” MacDougal on June 11, 1949. Fred was employed in the farming industry for many years and was also employed for the Maine Department of Transportation for 18 years until his retirement in 1986. Mr. Dubay was a communicant of the St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield, and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. He possessed a special love for his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his wife, “Kate” on Sept. 10, 2002; one daughter, Bonnie Lee Dubay in 1953; and one brother, Harold Dubay. He is survived by one son, David Dubay of Alton, Ill.; three daughters, Cathy and Dan Butler of Fort Fairfield, Linda and Clark Daughenbaugh of Alton, Ill., and Elizabeth Hilliard of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one brother, Allison Dubay of North Yarmouth; eight grandchildren, Alisa Howell of Burns Township, Minn., Michael Dubay of Alton, Ill., Garrett Cyr and his wife, Tammy, of Fort Fairfield, Shawn Daughenbaugh and his wife, Alicia, and Michele Daughenbaugh, all of Alton, Ill., Krista Dubay of Butler, Pa., Kyle Hilliard of Worthington, Pa., and Keanna Dubay of Pennsylvania; five great-grandchildren, Danielle Daughenbaugh of Shilo, Ill., Jonathan and Marissa Daughenbaugh, both of Alton, Ill., Janae and Isaac Cyr, both of Fort Fairfield; several nieces and nephews. Friends called from 7-9 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2004, at Dorsey Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. L. Chanel Cyr officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Relatives and friends are invited to share in a time of fellowship at the home of Cathy and Dan Butler, 169 Limestone Road, Fort Fairfield, immediately following the interment service. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Dubay to a charity or organization of one’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
