BELFAST – Frederick W. Aitken, 77, died Aug. 25, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Dec. 6, 1929, in East Corinth, to Ernest and Eva (Jefferson) Aitken. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1948. Fred worked as a dairy farmer, an explosion technician, ITO dock foreman and for many years as a carpenter. He is survived by his wife, Camilla; his children and their families, Richard and Janet Aitken of Monroe, Stephen and Debra Aitken of Orland and Holly and Tim Emerson of Monroe; his stepchildren and families, Cynthia and Bruce Cook, and David and Kristin Tripp, all of Monroe; his sisters, Gertrude Thompson of Monroe and Doris Brown of Geneva, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Philip Bayley of Scarborough; sisters-in-law and their families, Bernice and Guy Hanson of Monroe, Judy and Michael Ryder of Reddington, Mass., and Beverly Porter of Monroe, many nieces and nephews. His special friends and neighbors on the Kaler Road will miss him. His parents and sisters, Mary Bayley and Margaret Young predeceased him. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at Pilgrims Home Cemetery, Haley Road, Monroe, with the Rev. Suzie Gowie officiating. There will be a gathering at Monroe Community Church after the service.
