SULLIVAN – Fremont L. Preble, 83, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at an Ellsworth healthcare facility. He was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Sullivan, the son of Henry S. and Sarah (Cole) Preble. Fremont was a worm digger, Christmas tree farmer, and woodsman. He dug worms until he was 81, and even at that age was able to dig more worms than many people much younger than he. Fremont enjoyed hunting and trapping, and always said he found his peace in the forest. He is survived by a son, Terrence F. Preble and Elaine Foss; a brother, Clive Preble, all of Sullivan; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Fremont was predeceased by his wife, Emily A. (Farrin) Preble; and two grandchildren, Angela Preble and Timothy Wallace. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, at the Ashville Community Church with the Rev. Ray Blaisdell, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the Preble Family Cemetery, Sullivan.
