MOUNT CHASE and PRESQUE ISLE – G. Alex McPherson, 85, died Nov. 12, 2007, at a Patten nursing home. He was born Oct. 1, 1922, in Presque Isle, son of D. Reid McPherson and Iris (Smith) McPherson. He grew up on the McPherson family potato farm on the Burlock Road and then farmed that land until the late 1960s. He graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1941. On Nov. 16, 1945, he married Mary Caroline Park. The family moved to Mount Chase in 1969. He worked at Porter’s Paddle Shop for a few years. He enjoyed wood working, hunting, fishing and trapping. When he lived in Presque Isle, he enjoyed pistol shooting at the Rod and Gun Club. He is survived by two sisters, Hilda Stoddard of Jones-boro and Susan Tompkins of Spring, Texas; four children, Anne Baker and her husband, Larry, of Avon, George Mc-Pherson and his wife, Linda, of Oxbow, Evelyn Marquis and her husband, Jay, of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., and Ralph McPherson and his wife, Paula, of Bangor; three grandchildren, George McPherson III, Jeremy Baker and Erin Perkins. There are five great-grand-children and cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Mary Caroline (Park) McPherson. There will be a graveside service at Fairmount Cemetery, Houlton Road, Presque Isle, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements made by Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
