CARIBOU – G. Michael Deering, 54, died Monday, April 26, 2004, at his Caribou residence following a short illness with cancer. He was born July 19, 1949, in California, the son of Joseph and Jane (Metzger) Deering. He graduated from Caribou High School, Class of 1967. Mike was a devout Christian, who loved nature, carpentry and had a special gift to make people happy and their lives somehow better. He is survived and will be deeply missed by four brothers and one sister, R. Winston Kieffer and his wife, Mitzi, of Fairfield, Calif., Joseph Deering Jr. of Brewer, Robert “Kyan” Deering and Sue Olmstead of Caribou, Greg and Tamara Deering of Bangor, and Jemelie and Paul Bessette of Readfield; nephews, Jason Kieffer, Mike and Matt Bessette; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He will also be missed by very special friends, Jeff and Doreen Montieth, Michael and Debbie Collins, Steve and Kathy Aucoin, David Peterson, Tommy Holland and Bill Thibodeau, along with many other wonderful and supportive friends. At Mike’s request, there will be no public visiting hours or funeral service. His family will have a memorial ceremony with friends at a later date. The family wishes to thank the medical staff at Cary Medical Center, Eastern Maine Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s, TAMC Radiology and special thanks to Pines Health Center, The Celebration Center, Pastor Babin and Congregation. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mike may do so through the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by the Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou.
