SEARSPORT – Gail E. Gilmore, 59, went to be with the Lord, Jan. 30, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. Gail was born April 7, 1948, in Belfast, to Stanley M. Lanphier Sr. and Virginia M. (Ward) Lanphier of Searsport. She attended Searsport schools and in 1970, Gail married her loving husband of 37 years, Charles Gilmore. They made their home in her beloved hometown of Searsport. As a child, Gail was a strong-willed, spitfire who loved playing games, joking, laughing and being with her family. These traits continued through-out her life. Gail was a very generous woman and was always ready to listen to anyone who needed to talk and would always have a warm hug to give someone when they needed it most. If you were lucky enough to have Gail call you friend, you were truly blessed. Gail worked at Tall Pines Health Care Facility for more than 10 years and was very proud of her work. She loved working with the staff and residents. Gail was a fabulous cook and made a macaroni salad and an apple pie that was a must-have staple of all family functions. Gail was very thankful for what she was given in life and shared whatever she could with family and friends. Gail’s greatest blessing was her girls, Lisa and Tanya and her grandchildren, Joshua and Joanna. She adored them and they became her world. Gail was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Virginia (Ward) Lanphier. Gail leaves behind her loving husband, Charles Gilmore of Searsport; daughters, Lisa (Gilmore) Wilson and her husband, Tim, of Searsport, and Tanya Gilmore of Searsport; grandchildren, Joshua D. Wilson and Joanna D. Wilson; sisters and brothers, Kathleen Hall and her husband, Will, Donna Hathaway and her husband, Peter Terry, Lucy Seekins, Connie Shaw and her husband, Donnie, Stanley Lanphier Jr. and his wife, Debbie, Tim Lanphier and his wife, Karen, Karen Robertson and her husband, Roger, and Ricky Lanphier and his wife, Christine; sister-in-law, Linda Harvey and her husband, David; several nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much. Family and friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Feb. 1, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2. Those who wish may make donations in Gail’s memory to Waldo County Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 407, Belfast, ME 04915.
