BUCKSPORT and SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. – Gail Marie McCoy, 69, wife of Edwin McCoy Jr., passed away Oct. 28, 2007, at a Florida hospital, after a long illness with Lou Gehrig’s disease. She was born March 6, 1938, in Bucksport, daughter of Wilfred and Emeline Doucette. She was a graduate of Bucksport High School and was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church of Bucksport. In life, Gail was enthusiastic, dedicated to her family and her church, and talented in her activities. She was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed entertaining, especially with family and friends on birthdays and holidays. She enjoyed needlework and made beautiful afghans. She had a keen sense of color and style, both with her home and in her dress. She enjoyed hiking, canoeing, biking, dancing and playing cards with friends. A dream was fulfilled for her with a 50th wedding anniversary cruise to the Caribbean in January 2007. She is survived by her husband, Edwin McCoy of Bucksport; three children, Linda Fuller and her husband, Owen, of Old Town, Debbie McCoy and her companion, Philip Alberts, of Bucksport, and Christopher McCoy and his wife, Tracie, of Bangor; three brothers, Leon Doucette and his wife, Gloria, of Montana, Wilfred Doucette Jr. and his wife, Sandi, of Florida, and Paul Doucette and his wife, Sandy, of Newburgh; four grandchildren, Lisa Fuller of Old Town, Emily and Philip Alberts Jr., of Bucksport, and Tyler McCoy of Bangor; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and one brother, Richard Doucette. Gail will be sadly missed by her family and many friends who stood by with help and support during her time of need. Visiting hours will held 5-7 p.m. Thursday Nov. 1, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, Bucksport. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Bucksport, with Father James Plourde, celebrant.
