SANGERVILLE – Gardys W. Starbird, 95, died June 28, 2006, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born Nov. 9, 1910, in Dexter, daughter of Ernest and Elsie (Diamond) Woodside. She graduated from Dexter High School and Farmington Normal School. She taught school in Dexter for 25 years and later worked as a substitute teacher. She was a member of the Dexter United Methodist Church, the Women’s Society, the Sunshine Club, and volunteered for Meals for ME. She is survived by two daughters, Carol and her husband, Henry Flagg, of Sangerville and Shelley Morgan of Sanford; six grandchildren, Scott and his wife, Barbara Flagg, of Sangerville, Shannon Spaulding and her husband, Darrell, of Sangerville, Heather Morgan and her friend, Michael, of Limington, Georgeanne Artz and her husband, Greg, of Columbia, Mo., Leanne and Beanne Morgan of Sanford; four great-grandchildren, Brandon and Danielle Spaulding and Shannon Flagg, all of Sangerville and Christopher Flagg of South Portland; several cousins; a special friend, Holly Sinclair. She was predeceased by her husband, George Starbird. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 2, at the United Methodist Church in Dexter with Pastor Stephen Dean officiating, assisted by Pastor Lois Field.
