ASHLAND – Gaston Paul-Eugene Grondin, 87, died Oct. 25, 2004, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born in Lancaster, N.H., July 31, 1917, the son of George and Alice (Dumont) Grondin. He was self-employed as a barber in Lancaster, N.H. for 30 years and then worked for a paper mill. Gaston was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW, LeBlanc-Junkins Post 9699 of Ashland. He was also a member of the Ashland Snowmobile Club and the Oxbow Snowmobile Club. He is survived one son, Monte Grondin and his wife, Rosalie, of Ashland; one daughter, Winnifred Bruce and her husband, William, of South Carolina; one brother, Gene Maurice Grondin, of Bangor; one sister, Rita Grondin of Lancaster, N.H. He will also be missed by a close special friend, Toni Caron of Ashland. Gaston was predeceased by his wife, Grace W. (Hodge) Grondin in 1997. Relatives and friends may call at the Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St., Ashland, from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Thursday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Mark Catholic Church, Ashland, with Rev. Michael Hinken, SOLT, pastor, celebrant.
