GENEVA A. HOLMQUIST NEW SWEDEN – Geneva A. Holmquist, 82, beloved wife of Linwood S. Holmquist died peacefully Feb. 13, 2006, at a Caribou healthcare facility. She was born Feb. 6, 1924, in Limestone, the daughter of Herbert and Inez (O’Rourke) Rackliffe. A high school graduate, she was a register CNA and worked for years at the Caribou Nursing Home. She was school lunch program cook for New Sweden school and for more than 10 years had her own catering business. She was also a volunteer at Cary Medical Center. Geneva was a longtime member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of New Sweden. She is survived by her husband of New Sweden; two sons, Larry Holmquist and his wife, Rachel, of Saco and Kris D. Holmquist of Pelion, S.C.; three daughters, Judith E. Holmquist of Caribou, Nancy Holmquist Robie and her husband, Keith, of New Sweden, Coleen I. Lajoie of Gilbert, S.C.; four grandchildren, Mark Holmquist and his wife, Devra, of East Waterboro, Melanie Holmquist and her fianc?, David Weiss, of Ridgefield, Conn., Matthew Lajoie USN of Norfolk, Va., Niklas Robie of New Sweden; one great-grandchild, Andrew Holmquist of East Waterboro. She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Norma Johnson and Thelma Raymond. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Evangelical Covenant Church, New Sweden, with the Rev. Shelly Timber, pastor officiating. Spring interment will be at the New Sweden Cemetery, New Sweden. Donations in Geneva’s memory may be made to either the Evangelical Covenant Church Memorial Fund or to a special memorial through the Battered Women’s Project.
