BREWER and BANGOR – George Bertram Cummings Sr., 76, died July 23, 2006, at a local hospital. He was born Nov. 1, 1929, in North Sullivan, the son of Bertram E. and Catherine (Feeney) Cummings. George was a graduate from Bangor High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as a boiler man 3rd class. George worked for several years at Sears in the automotive department and retired from Darlings Honda/Nissan after many years of employment. He enjoyed reading and completing yard work, but the greatest joy of his life was his family, and he will be sadly missed. He is survived by his son, George Jr. and his wife, Kimberly (Dodge) Cummings, of Brewer; a daughter, Diane Mesmer and husband, William, of Ohio; three grandchildren, Caid Cummings, Ryan Halicki, and Michelle Squibbs and husband, Troy; and seven great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Family and friends are invited to meet 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the Superintendents Lodge at Mount Hope Cemetery, 1048 State St., Bangor, where a cemetery service will be held 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Rex Garrett, Director of Chaplaincy Services at Eastern Maine Medical Center, officiating.
