HOULTON – George E. “Butch” Friel Jr., 60, died Aug. 13, 2004, at a local hospital. He was born April 14, 1944, at Providence, R.I., the son of George E. and Doris (Sylvia) Friel Sr. “Butch” was a member of the Salvation Army. He loved buying and selling antiques, playing soft ball and boxing. He is survived by his wife, Aldeyne (Henderson) Friel of Houlton; two sons, Christopher Dean Friel of Lakeland, Fla., Gregory Allen Friel and his wife, Sandra, of Biddeford; one daughter, Gaynelle Ree Joslyn and her husband, Calvin, of Houlton; five grandchildren, Brooklynn, Grant and Samantha Friel, Christopher George and Nicholas Allen Joslyn; two sisters, Doris Fenton of Massachusetts, Cheryl McCue of New York; a half brother, Billy Friel of Rhode Island; a special uncle, Al Friel; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; very special pastor, Rev. Jack MacKerron and Elsie, former pastor of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, which Butch and his family attended for 34 years; also much love towards Rev. Daniel Evans, which Butch accepted the Lord under his ministry. He was predeceased by his parents and a special uncle, Chris Friel. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, at the Dunn Funeral Home, with Captain Paul Knickerbocker officiating.
