GEORGE EDWARD PAUL WATERVILLE – George Edward Paul, 64, of Moody Street, died May 9, 2004, at home, with his devoted wife and loving family at his side. He was born March 2, 1940, in Houlton, a son of Herbert Francis and Caroline Josephine Sewall Paul. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1968, with tours of duty in Korea and the Azores, and was awarded the Air Force Longevity Service Award, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. On April 2, 1976, he married Viola Quimby Farley in Caribou. They spent more than 28 years together, with George’s work taking them from Washburn to Easton and then to Acton, Mass. After George retired, they moved to Waterville to be near family who had settled in the area. He is survived by his best friend and the love of his life, his wife, Vie; his daughter, Lauralee Paul Webie and her children, Stephanie and Zachary of Oklahoma; his stepdaughter, Marjorie Farley Morgan her husband, Wayne, their children, Starlene, Wayne Jr., Brenda, David and Sandra and their families of New York; his stepson, Albert Farley and his wife, Evelina, their children, Albert and Mark, and their families of Caribou; and Dolores Farley Glidden, her husband, Elijah, her children, Jessie, Rosabell, Sal, and Jeffrey and their families of North Carolina. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Theresa Paul Edgecomb and her husband, Jeff, of Augusta; two brothers, Peter Herbert Paul of Canaan, and Matthew Delano Paul of Florida; a brother-in-law, David Lloyd Quimby of Canaan; an aunt, Lillian Sewall Stairs of Houlton; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was deeply saddened by the sudden death of his sister, Patsyann Evelyn Paul Quimby, on Aug. 7, 2003. In addition, he was predeceased by his mother in 1951; his father in 1986; two brothers, Nathan Gray Paul, in 1974, and Patrick Francis Paul, in 1970. Family and friends may visit from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 13, 2004, at the funeral home with the Rev. Maynard Weeks officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, with full military honors.
