GEORGE G. MCKENNEY NEWPORT – George G. McKenney, 64, went to be with the Lord Oct. 27, 2003, at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 28, 1939, in Pittsfield, son of Glenwood and Mildred (Wentworth) McKenney. He attended Pittsfield schools and MCI in Pittsfield. On June 7, 1958, he married his childhood sweetheart, Lucille (Thompson) McKenney. He attended the Solid Rock Church of God in Pittsfield, and the Newport Church of God. At the time of his death he was retired after 25 years as a car salesman, working at Sullivan Ford, Pine State Volkswagen, Bangor Dodge and Hartley’s of Newport. Previously he worked in several area shoe factories. He was a lifelong hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed baseball, football, golf, and loved to sing and play guitar. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lucille McKenney of Newport; two daughters, Priscilla Drake and her husband, Joe, of Stillwater, and Bethany Mitchell and her husband, Aaron, of Palmyra; a son, Patrick McKenney and his wife, Kellie, of Hampden; a foster son, Arthur Quimby and his wife, Denise, of N. Anson; a sister, Sueann Batchelder and her husband, Harold, of Pittsfield; a brother-in-law, Alfred E. Thompson Jr. and his wife, Juliette, of Goldsboro, N.C.; four granddaughters, Victoria Drake, Brooke and Alexa Mitchell and Nichole Hopkins; two grandsons, Joey Drake and Jacob McKenney; an aunt, Martha Ordway of Newport; several nieces, nephews and cousins; two very special friends, Arthur Macloud and Bert Wilbur of Newport; a very special cousin, Tyrone McKenney and his wife, Suzanne, of Minnesota. George’s family would like to thank Dr. Katuru for the special care and friendship that he extended to George during his illness. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at the Newport Church of God with Pastor Buddy Gough officiating.
