VEAZIE – George Phillip Shropshire Sr., 58, died peacefully in his sleep June 7, 2008, in Sturbridge, Mass. “Phil” was born Nov. 8, 1949, in Winston-Salem, N.C., the son of Robert Alexander and June (Pearson) Shropshire. He was owner/operator of GRR Trucking Inc., for many years. Phil is survived by his wife, Margo Spaulding Shropshire of Veazie; sons, George Jr. and Robert Lee of North Carolina; daughter, Rachel of Veazie; stepson, Jason Spaulding and wife, Heather, of Bradley; step-daughter, Elizabeth Spaulding of Old Town; sister, Ann (Pearson) Foss and husband, Nathaniel, of Palmyra; sister, Cheryl Ann Shropshire of North Carolina; brother, Paul Jewett of Northeast Harbor; brother, Marvin Shropshire and wife, Brenda, of North Carolina; seven beloved grandchildren, Kevin, Jeffery, Dustin, Patrick, Brittany, Kayla and Dylan; aunt, Margaret Morris and husband, James, of North Carolina; and his extended family, Louis and Mindy Manzo and children. He was predeceased by his mother, his father; brother, Joseph Pearson of Georgia; and sister, Florence Eveline Haskell of New Hampshire. Phil’s nature was to help anyone with a need and in this effort he touched many people in a positive way. He will be loved and missed forever. Friends are invited to share in celebration of Phil’s life by joining family 1 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at his home in Veazie. Arrangements are by Memorial Alternatives, 205 Center St., Bangor.
