WOODLAND and CARIBOU George W. Wark, 77, died May 13, 2004, at Caribou. He was born Sept. 26, 1926, in Woodland, the son of William and Rhoda (Wright) Wark. He attended the Woodland and Caribou schools and was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. George was employed by MPG, Birds Eye, as a used car dealer, a farm worker for his brother, Gordon, and finally as a substance abuse counselor with the Aroostook Mental Health Center. His own struggles with alcohol and his subsequent recovery enabled him to help many others with similar problems. He married Lucille d’Entremont Aug. 1, 1948. Surviving in addition to his wife of more than 55 years, Lucille of Caribou, are his 10 children, Gordon and his wife, Susan, of Caribou, Greg and his wife, Derna, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Gale and her husband, David Stewart, of Duncan, Ariz., Gene and his wife, Theresa, of Jonesborough, Tenn., Gary of Portland, Greta of Bath, Georgia of Portland, Gerard and his wife, Susie, of Westbrook, Graham and his wife, Beth, of Stratham, N.H., and Jim and his wife, Christina, of Russell, Kan.; a sister and brother-in-law, Rhoda and Kenneth Atcheson of Woodland; a brother-in-law, Earl McNeal of Woodland; and a sister-in-law, Lillian Wark. George was truly loved by his 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three bothers, Ralph, Gordon and James Wark; as well as three sisters, Madeline McIntosh, Eugenia McNeal and Joyce Curran. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 17, 2004, from the Chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie, officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
