ALEXANDER – George William Tracy, 83, died Dec. 29, 2005, at the Lahey Clinic in Massachusetts. George was born Jan. 17, 1922, in Calais, son of the late Harry and Doris (Moore) Tracy. He spent all his working years, since a young teenager, in the family business, Harry Tracy & Sons. George made many, many friends over the years, by especially lending a helping hand, transportation, housing, etc. to stranded travelers. He owned and raced a stock car and was an avid bowler and reader. George truly enjoyed spending time at his year round home on Pleasant Lake in Alexander, surrounded by his large family and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Joyce Lowell; brothers, John “Bud” and Harry “Sonny” Tracy; a grandson, Michael Vachon; and wives, Mary, Ethel and Sabrina. Surviving are his children, Bonita Tracy of Sanford, Donna Tracy of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Judith Eagan of Stoneham, Mass., George “Bobby” Tracy of Bangor and Laurel Tracy Wentworth of Bangor; grandchildren, Tracey Quimby and Terri Costner of Sanford, Toni Smith and husband, Gary, of Lee, N.H., Michelle Vashon of Sherwood, Ark., Peter Eagan of Stoneham, Mass., Stephen and wife, Michelle Eagan, of Billerica, Mass., Cindy Stanton and husband, Eric, of Medford, Mass., Crista Johnson and husband, Wayne, of Stoneham, Mass., Stephanie, Lauren and Robert Tracy of Bangor; great-grandchildren, Thomas Quimby, Robert Gallant and Rachel Smith, Madison, Katelyn and Stephen Eagan, Brooke and Brittany Stanton, Stacia and Leah Johnson; one great-great-grandchild, Zackary Quimby; a sister, Marion “Mimmie” Walls of Herman; and a special long time friend, Willard “Sonny” Hornbrook of Calais. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Second Baptist Church, Church Street, Calais, with Pastor Bob Hinton, officiating. Burial will follow in Calais Cemetery.
