DEER ISLE – Jerry Betts passed away May 4, 2005, due to complications resulting from a motorcycle accident. He was born April 15, 1951, the devoted son of Charles and Wilma (Spofford) Betts, who predeceased him. Jerry leaves behind his cherished wife, Peggy; loving sister, Rene Brin and her husband, Mike Brin, (a long time high school friend); and their son, (nephew), Matt, of Amherst, N.H. All of Peggy’s family mourns the loss of a devoted and loving son-in-law, brother-in-law and “funny Uncle Jerry.” Jerry was also predeceased by his brother, Terry in 1969. Jerry was well-loved and respected by his local and business community. He was best known for his random and compassionate acts of kindness experienced by anyone who crossed his path. Jerry owned Betts Wire Trap, serving the local community for 23 years. Jerry was also a 5th generation fisherman prior to opening his own business. “J.B.’s” family and friends find solace in knowing that, with his wife Peg, next to him he died quickly and peacefully doing that which he most loved, riding his Harley on a sunny day Down East. Jerry will be sadly missed. A celebration of Jerry’s life will on Sunday, May 8, 2:00pm at the Church of Nazarene in Stonnington.
