BREWER – Gerald F. Kelly, 76, died June 23, 2008, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born Oct. 13, 1931, in Bangor, the son of Maurice L. and Hazel C. (McHale) Kelly. Gerry attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from John Bapst, Class of 1950. He served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Fulton during the Korean War. Gerry worked for many years at Eastern Corp., Morrill’s Variety and most recently with Tozier’s Market. He was a parishioner of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church. Gerry was an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots. He always had a smile on his face and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary “Teresa” (Gallant) Kelly; a son, Gerald Kelly and wife, Jessica, of Orrington; a daughter, Cynthia (Kelly) Garside and husband, Robert, of Orrington; a brother, Martin Kelly and wife, Pat, of Bangor; sisters, Julia Brewster and husband, Gayle, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Mary Margaret Kelly of Bangor, and Ann Blood of League City, Texas; four grandchildren, Joshua and Lauren Garside, Parker Kelly and Robert Batron; two sons-in-law, Robert Sekera of Eddington and Steve Doughty of Bangor; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two daughters, Mary Jo Sekera and Jacqueline Doughty; three brothers, Maurice Kelly Jr., Robert Kelly and Kenneth Kelly; and a sister, Lena Bernadini. The family thanks the staff for their care and compassion at the Maine Veterans’ Home in the C-unit and Eastern Maine Medical Center in the respiratory unit. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, 425 South Main St., Brewer, with the Rev. Robert Vaillancourt, pastor, celebrant. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the service at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church Parish Hall.
