NORTH SEARSPORT – Gerald “Jerry” J. Raymond, 75, ended his courageous battle with leukemia, Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006. Born May 28, 1931, in Portage Lake, the son of Albert and Leona (King) Raymond. He was a loving husband for 53 years to Sylvia “Sue” (Smart) Raymond. He attended schools in Belfast and Belmont. Jerry was employed for many years in the shoe industries in Belfast and Bangor. He so enjoyed his family, friends and his outdoor life; hunting, fishing, cross-country skiing, bowling, canoeing, playing horseshoes, fly-tying and golfing. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Leona Raymond; his sister, Geneva McGrotty; and his two brothers, Lewis “Pete” and Darrell “Blackie” Raymond. Survivors include his wife, Sue; two children and their spouses, Becky and Sid McIntire and Kevin and Karla Raymond; brothers, and sisters, Norman, Ronald, Harold, Avis, Elaine and Lorraine; grandchildren, Darice, Mandy, Kari, Kristy and Heather; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Brandon, Sydney and Caleb; many special nieces and nephews; a special friend and fishing buddy, Stew Later. Visitation for family and friends will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Young Funeral Home, 31 West Main St., Searsport, were funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor Jim Begley officiating. A celebration of life will be held after the service at Midcoast Christian Fellowship, 21 Patterson Hill Road, Belfast.
