LUBEC – Gerald L. Woodruff “Woody,” 64, died unexpectedly Friday, May 12, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 11, 1941, in Spokane, Wash., the son of Elva Wade Woodruff and Florence (Lafleur) Woodruff. After graduating from high school, he entered the military in 1959 and spent 26 years in the U.S. Air Force. After retiring from the military in 1985, he settled in Lubec where he was employed at Farmer’s Red and White for 14 years. After the store closed, he went to work at the Quik Shop, working there for four years. Gerald liked to read and work the computer, but his favorite thing was to vacation in Atlantic City, N.J. every summer. The town of Lubec will greatly miss Woody. He was loved by everyone who knew him for his kindness, his sense of humor, and for being a wonderful human being. He will be sadly missed, especially by his wife of 11 years, Jean; and his daughters, Julie Woodruff of South Carolina, Kimberly and her husband, Matthew, of Lubec, Terri Woodruff and her husband, Dana, of Lubec; three stepchildren, Michele Riggs and her husband, Michael, of Whiting, Scott McPherson of Lubec, and Steven McPherson of Eastport; three grandchildren, Delesdenier, Madisein and Chole. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at the Christian Temple Church, Lubec, with the Rev. Fr. Alan Andraeas officiating. Burial will follow at the Olson Cemetery, Lubec.
