GARDEN GROVE, Calif. – Gerald T. Wolfard, 68, died Jan. 5, 2005, in Orange, Calif. He was born May 25, 1936, in Pomona, Calif., the son of Clifford and Violet (Shotliff) Wolfard. He lived most of his life in Long Beach, Calif. attending schools there. He served in the U.S. army Airborne Division In Nuremberg, Germany. In 1959, he started a 34 year career in the aerospace industry with North American Aviation, Rockwell International, known today as Boeing Corp. He worked on the Minute Man and Trident Missile systems, Navstar, and the entire Apollo spacecraft program. He worked on the space shuttle working on the “Enterprise”, “Challenger”, and “Columbia” space shuttles. He also worked on Skylab I and II and the B-1 Bomber. He had a great love for all sports, deep-sea fishing, baseball, football, and auto racing. Visiting Maine and Arizona brought him great delight. He was an avid model Railroad enthusiast. He was predeceased by his daughter, Phoebe; his mother, Violet Mounce; and beloved sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Rodney Nason. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marvis Lanpher Wolfard; his son, Clyde Wolfard, his daughter Nicole and her husband, Paul Doumerc; his sister and her husband, Tedde and William Sundell; his grandchildren, Athena and Sheldon Wolfard, Sara and Erika Weaver; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Errol and Beatrice Lanpher and Bevley and Nathalie Rines of Palmyra; many nieces and nephews on the East and West Coasts. As per his wishes there are no public services. Spring burial will be in Skowhegan. Local arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Brown Funeral Home Newport.
