CARIBOU – Gerard Dionne, 77, died Nov. 16, 2006, at a veterans’ hospital in Columbia, S.C. He was born May 19, 1929, in Caribou, the son of Alfonse and Philimin Dionne. Gerard attended local schools and joined the military serving his country in the U.S. Army. He was employed for years by area farmers, worked as a custodian and also did many other jobs. He and his wife, Albertine had recently moved down to South Carolina to be with their daughter. He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Albertine (Levesque) Dionne of Sumter, S.C.; two daughters, Sharon Bertok and her husband, Dan, of Sumter, S.C., and Marlene Gagnon and her husband, Roland, of St. Leonard; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mary Jane Raymond and her husband, Gilman, of Stockholm and Rose Rossignol and her husband, Percy, of Caribou; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Tuesday at Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Jean Paul LaBrie, celebrant.
