ORONO and OLD TOWN Gerard E. Richard, 86, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2004, at an Ellsworth rehabilitation center. He was born on May 18, 1918, in St. Charles, New Brunswick, Canada, son of the late Joseph and Margaritte (Chevarie) Therriault. Gerard was raised by and took the name of his aunt and uncle, Antoine and Modeste Richard. He was a retired ironworker. He volunteered along with Louise Crane at the opening of Parker Dining Hall in Orono. Gerard enjoyed gardening. Gerard is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Alberta “Dee” (Fortier) Richard of Orono; son, Brian Richard and his wife, Joyce; daughters, Pamela Thibodeau and her husband, Donovan, Lynn Mountain and her husband, Stuart; and son, Lee Richard and his wife, Cheryl; brothers, Robert Therriault and his wife, Betty, Louis Therriault; sisters, Irene St. Peter and Louise Charette; grandchildren, Derek Hanlon, Brian Richard, Stephanie Hamlin, Renee Wright, Andrea Hastings, Rodney Mountain, Jason Richard, Cliff Richard, Robert Gilbert Jr., Jennifer Kennard, Jodie Gilbert; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, Wilfred Therriault, Arthur “Pete” Therriault, Clarence Theriault, Ernest Therriault, Alfred Therriault; and sister, Delia Burube. He was also predeceased by his granddaughter, Angela Richard. A memorial mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Old Town with the Rev. Normand Richard, celebrant. Friends and family are invited to Holy Family Parish Hall for a luncheon and continued fellowship immediately following the mass. Burial will be private.
