BANGOR – Gertrude “Trudy” Bragg, 90, wife of 56 years to Harold M. Bragg, died Oct. 28, 2007, at her home. She was born Oct. 11, 1917, in Bangor, the daughter of Leslie G. York and Alice (Shaw) York. Shortly after her birth her parents moved to Massachusetts, and returned to Bangor in 1932. Trudy graduated from Bangor High School in 1935 and then Gilman Commercial School. She worked as the host of It’s a Woman’s World local television talk show in the early 1960s, one of the first in the nation. She worked in many different offices in Bangor and in 1968, she and her husband entered the motel business in Texas, and Arkansas, returning to Bangor in 1984. Trudy was employed as secretary at Fox and Ginn, a job she thoroughly enjoyed for many years. She was a long-time member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she played the organ for many years and served in many other capacities in the church. She served as president for two years and then as chair of the board of the Methodist Conference Home, Rockland. Trudy loved her association with the Bangor-Brewer Christian Women’s Club. She volunteered at Eastern Maine Medical Center, where she worked at the information desk for 23 years. Trudy was a member of Excelsior Rebecca Lodge. Surviving, in addition to her husband, Harold, are one daughter, Sandra L. Gordon of Tyler, Texas; three granddaughters, Audrey K. Weaster of Las Vegas, Kelly Walden of Bangor and Karen Conner of Bullard, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Shanna, Tonya, Marcus, Chase, Brianna, Courtney, who had a very special relationship with her great-grandmother, and Judson; five great-great-grandchildren, Anthony, Donovan, Trey, Devin and Nathan; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Treworgy. The family expresses their gratitude to her hospice nurse, Nancy, for her loving care shown to Trudy and the family, as well as to all her wonderful friends for their caring and concern. A celebration of her life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at Grace United Methodist Church, Bangor, with the Rev. Kathy Macedo, pastor officiating. The family invites relatives and friends for refreshments after the service in the church hall. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
