FORT FAIRFIELD and PRESQUE ISLE – Gertrude “Trudy” Louise (McLaughlin) Terry, 82, died unexpectedly June 23, 2004, at her Presque Isle residence. She was born Sept. 18, 1921, at Fort Fairfield the daughter of Lewis and Maude (Burtchell) McLaughlin. She was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1940. She married Floyd “Mack” Terry of Chelsea, Okla., in 1952, and moved to Tulsa, Okla., where she worked for Bovaird Oil Field Supply Co. for eight years. She and her husband moved to California in 1960, where she worked as an administrative cashier for the Bank of America until 1977. They moved back to Chelsea, Okla., where she worked at the First National Bank of Chelsea, and retired as an administrative cashier in 1992, and also served as City Treasurer of Chelsea, Okla., for many years. After the death of her husband in 1999, she returned to Fort Fairfield. Trudy was a member of the First Assembly of God in Chelsea, Okla., and upon returning to Maine, she became a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, Fort Fairfield. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Gwendolyn DeMerchant, Annabelle McLaughlin; three brothers, Ola, Donald and Ellis McLaughlin; and a stepgrandson, Donald Couser. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Luther and Gloria McLaughlin; a sister, Eleanor Burtsell, all of Fort Fairfield; a brother-in-law, Wilford Terry and his wife, Gladys, of Chelsea, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Couser and her husband, Don; two step-grandsons, David Crouser and his wife, Shelli, Tommy Couser and his wife, Laura, Anita Couser (wife of Donald), all of Moore, Okla.; nine great-stepgrandchildren; many special and loving nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Dot Phair; and special nephew, Philip De Merchant. Friends may call 7-8 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2004, at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. Friends may also call 10-11 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2004, at the Dorsey Funeral Home, where funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. with Asa Cook officiating. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Family and friends are invited to a time of fellowship with refreshments at the Bethel Baptist Church, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield, immediately following the interment service.
