SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. – Gilbert H. McVay, 85, of Holly Road, Wakefield, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at South County Hospital. He was the former husband of Norina (Bouffard) McVay. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Ira and Josephine (Gage) McVay. He was an engineer on the Red Star Tug Boat out of New York City and also the Pt. Judith Boat to Block Island. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge in Sedgwick. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Edie and Louis McVay King of Waterville, Jeannette and Darrell Gray of Blue Hill; three sons and daughters-in-law, Norman Gilbert and Suzanne McVay of Hamden, Raymond and Jane McVay of Sedgwick, Bryan and Sally McVay of Brooksville; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-stepgrandchildren. He was the father of the late Gilbert Harold McVay Jr.; and brother of the late Ira McVay, Jr. and Doris McVay Foreman. A funeral service is planned for a later date. Arrangements by The Avery-Storti Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
