BANGOR and VAN BUREN Gladys M. Laplante, 80, died Oct. 21, 2006, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Grand Isle, the daughter of Eddie and Alice (Clavette) Gendreau. She was employed as a social worker for the State of Maine for many years. Gladys was a member of the Evangeline Circle, Daughters of Isa-bella and the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 49, Van Buren. She is survived by two sons, Glenn Laplante of Campbellton, New Brunswick and David Laplante and his wife, June, of Bangor; two daughters, Rella Franklin and her husband, Henry, of Grovetown, Ga., and Michelle McCarthy and her husband, Danny, of Gorham; four sisters, Rhea Gendreau of Limestone, Germaine St. Amand and Alphena Latham, both of Van Buren and Mary Ann Chasse of Hamlin; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grand-children. She was predeceased by her husband, Aurele Laplante in 1988; one daughter, Robertine Amato in 1990; and by a son, Robert Laplante in 1993. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be at the parish cemetery.
