CHAPMAN – Glennice E. Welch, 78, died Feb. 3, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. She was born May 6, 1928, in Bangor, the daughter of Afton and Grace (Tibbetts) Bowman. Glennice was a graduate of Bangor High School and the School of Nursing at Eastern Maine General Hospital in 1951. She had been employed as a nurse at Arthur R. Gould Memorial Hospital, Presque Isle, for many years and later by Northern Maine Technical College, Presque Isle, as a nursing instructor for more than 14 years. Surviving her is her husband of 48 years, Merwin E. Welch of Chapman; a daughter, Sydnia Czarnecki and her husband, David Hottle and her children, Jacob and Anastasia Czarnecki, all of Needham, Mass; a son, Dwight A. Welch and his wife, Jo and their son, Eric, all of Halifax, Nova Scotia; two sisters, Marilyn Debarry of Biloxi, Miss., and Elsie Betters of Glenburn; as well as several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Nathan Gardiner officiating. Interment will be at Castle Hill Cemetery later in the spring.
