FRANKFORT – Gloria Mildred Cookson, 79, wife of the late Raymond L. Cookson died Dec. 9, 2004, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor. She was born July 4, 1925, in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of Fred R. and Helen M. (Clark) Vanderhoof. Gloria graduated from Portsmouth, N.H. High School and attended the University of Maine. She was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Gloria was past matron of Star in the East Chapter OES, Hampden, organizing regent and member of the Bucksport chapter of DAR, and served as chairwoman of the Frankfort Bycentenial Committee. She is survived by her son, Albert Cookson of Carmel; her daughter, Gloriaraye Cookson of Brooks; two foster daughters, Mina Burr of Brunswick and Corinna Hatfield of Baconton, Ga.; four grandchildren, 17 foster grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, George Cookson of Middletown, N.Y.; one sister-in-law, Nancy Cookson of Canada; nieces and nephews. A graveside service conducted by officers of the Eastern Star will be held in the spring at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Etna, at a time and date to be announced by Foley Funeral Service, Bangor.
