BANGOR and MERIDEN, Conn. – Gorham J. Stratton, 80, died Feb. 17, 2005, at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor. He was born March 1, 1924, in Woburn, Mass., the son of Gorham and Nellie (Fletcher) Stratton. Gorham graduated from Bangor High School. He served during World War II in the 15th Air Force in the South Pacific. He was employed at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford and North Haven, Conn. until his retirement. He was a member of the 1st Company Governors Horseguard and was active in the Meriden VFW Post No. 585, becoming post commander. He is survived by two sisters, Ella K. Sylvester and husband, Frederick, of Sarasota, Fla., Dorothy Cayford of Bangor; one brother, Earle M. Stratton and wife, Eleanor, of Enfield, Conn.; several loving nieces and nephews, Phillip, Ann, Sharon, Sandy, Brent, Jeffrey, Robert, Karen and Deanna. He was predeceased by one brother-in-law, Phillip Cayford; and a nephew, Phillip Cayford Jr. A graveside service will be held in Lamoine in the spring at a date and time to be announced by Foley Funeral Service.
