WEBSTER, Mass. – Grace E. (Hamm) Cole, 92, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at Hubbard Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Bangor. Mrs. Cole moved to the greater Boston area where she began her career in nursing. She retired to a life of enjoying her grandchildren, reading, and she was an avid Red Sox fan for life. Wife of the late Alton M. Cole Sr., she is survived by three daughters, Viola Scott of Webster, Mass., Ellen Murphy of Weymouth, Mass., Sharon McKenzie of Newington, Conn.; and a special stepson, Alan Cole of Revere, Mass.; a sister, Lillian LaBelle of Old Town; and two brothers, William Hamm of Webster, Mass., and Phillip Hamm of Bangor. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and 1 “on the way”, along with many loving nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by five sons, Alton M. (1st), Lawrence W., Ronald F., Roger L., Alton M. Jr. (2nd); and two daughters, Frances Hattie Cole and Dorothy Conley; her mother, Harriet (Gray) Hamm; and her father, Freeman L. Hamm Sr.; two sisters, Viola Anderson, Hattie (Pat) Bowden; and three brothers, Lawrence Hamm, Freeman L. Hamm Jr. and Calvin Hamm. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Aug. 13, at the Auburn Baptist Church, 227 Poland Road, Auburn.
