HERMON – Grace Elizabeth Homsted, 89, wife of the late George A. Homsted, died April 2, 2007, at a Brewer health care center. She was born July 16, 1917, in Winterport, daughter of Frank and Ethel (Young) Knowles. Grace was a graduate of Winterport High School, attended the University of Maine and for several years, was the office manager for CE Noyes Co., Bangor. She attended Hermon Baptist Church, was a member of the Historical Society, Senior Citizens, the Garden Club and the Rebekah Lodge, all of Hermon. Surviving are two daughters, Meriel K. Goodin and her husband, Leo, of Holden and Judith A. Harding and her husband, Roger, of Brewer; three grandchildren, Steven A. Goodin of Bangor, Bruce J. Goodin of Bucksport and Amanda S. Hughes of Bangor; six great-grandchildren, Mon-ique, Jonathan, Joseph, Chelsea, Brittany and Cole; several nieces and nephews. Friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, with the Rev. Garnett Chute, pastor of Hermon Baptist Church, officiating. Internment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Winterport, later in the spring. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., after the service Thursday.
