BANGOR – Grace T. Nutter, 81, wife of the late Lewis James Nutter, died May 1, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Aug. 5, 1922, in Segwick, the daughter of Edgar and Jenny (Torrey) Eaton. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Richard Nutter; two grandsons, Christopher Michael Nutter and Daniel Nutter; a sister, Harriet Taylor; two brothers, Cecil and Lawrence Torrey. She is survived by two children, Christine Speed and her husband, Vaughn, of Corinth, Marvin Nutter and his wife, Carolyn, of Hampden; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Nutter of Florida; 12 grandchildren, Marilyn Curtis, Linda Luellen, Betty Speed, Connie Alvarado, Sally Speed, Michael Nutter, Cindi Valley, Michelle Young, Johnathan Nutter, Scott Nutter, Steven Nutter, Sandra Rowan; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two great-great-granddaughters; three sisters, Ruth Field, Dorothy Rankin, both of Connecticut, and Faith Friend of Florida; many nieces and nephews. Grace will be missed by many loved ones and friends. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Monday May 3, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. May 4, with the Rev. William Washington, officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Glenburn. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brooking-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, following the services Tuesday.
